SWAP

What swap is

Swap is the interest-rate adjustment credited or debited when you carry a position into the next day.

Why it arises

Trading a pair means borrowing one currency to buy another. Sell the lower-yielding currency to buy the higher one and you receive the difference; do the reverse and you pay it.

When it applies

It is calculated once a position is held across the daily rollover. Wednesday to Thursday usually carries three days at once to cover the weekend.

It matters over time

On a trade closed the same day the effect is negligible. Held for weeks or months, the running total becomes a real part of the result.

Check the current values

Swap figures move with rates and market conditions. Current values per symbol are shown in the symbol specification in MT5.

This page explains our trading conditions and is not a recommendation to trade. Margin trading carries the risk of losing your invested capital.

[Risk warning]

Foreign exchange trading carries the risk of losing your invested capital, and higher leverage increases that risk. Please consider the risks carefully and trade only within a range of loss you can bear.
